We are unable to ping my AWS instance however website is up

hi there, 

 

just came across to this forum and though might ask a confusion rather than issue. We have our website setup by AWS contractor and thing seems to work fine. But recently we came across an issue that our web server does not reply to ping however we haven't got any issues reported to our website. Can anyone suggest

Hi robert,

There might be many reasons behind this, but first, have you allowed ICMP in firewall rule? If not, you can do that by following the below step,

to Add a new EC2 security group inbound rule:

type: Custom ICMP rule

protocol: Echo Request

port: N/A

source: your source machine IP or use Anywhere for public access.
